SolarFest’s 2013 5-Day Intensive Training opportunity in partnership with Solar Energy International (SEI) has been CANCELED. We did not get enough students to economically run the class.

This year SolarFest is excited to bring back our Pre-Festival Workshop Training. We are equally as excited to be partnering with one of the oldest and largest renewable energy training organizations in the country, Solar Energy International (SEI). Flint Richter, of SEI, will be our lead instructor and trainer.
SEI was founded in 1991, as a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization focused solely on renewable energy, SEI’s mission is to provide quality training to advance the renewable energy industry.

2013 Course Title Description: PV203 – Solar Electric Design (Battery-Based)
This year’s 5 day course will include approximately 4 days of classroom time (at a nearby elementary school) with 1 of on-site hands-on installation of one of the systems integral to the operation of our annual Sustainable Living Festival. The course will build upon the core concepts from PV101, with a specific emphasis on battery-based system design. Students will work through step-by-step design process for battery-based solar electric applications, including stand-alone (off-grid), grid-tied with battery back-up, and hybrid systems. Topics such as load analysis, component selection, battery safety, voltage drop, and commissioning procedures will be presented. In addition to sizing exercises and calculations, students will explore additional design considerations unique to battery-based systems.
This course is ideal for people looking to design and install battery-based solar electric systems, and for solar professionals who have been working in the grid-direct market and need to learn about battery-based systems in preparation for the NABCEP Solar PV Installer Certification Exam.
Prerequisite: PV101 – As part of our partnership with SEI any student registered for this PV203 course at SolarFest will get $100 off the price of the SEI PV-101 Online Course.
Students who complete the workshop will be able to perform the following:
Class Materials: This class comes with a notebook of Power Points, quizzes and exercises.
Participants are expected to bring a 2011 NEC book with them.
NABCEP Training Hours: 5 Day In-person = 40 hours or 18 Continuing Education Units for NABCEP recertification.
We need to register a minimum of 10 Students prior to June 10, 2013 in order to hold this training - so don’t delay!
